Objects in sand in a small gold bowl within a larger blue sand tray.

About

With a background in teaching and more recently in complementary therapies, I have many years' experience of  working therapeutically with people of all ages and backgrounds. I am warm, compassionate and down-to-earth.

How do I work?

I start by building a safe, trusting relationship as research shows that this is key to effective therapy. As an integrative counsellor, I use a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I particularly enjoy using the sand tray and creativity to help clients of all ages to explore feelings in a safe way.

My approach is

  • trauma-informed
  • neuro-affirmative
  • LGBTQ+ friendly

I offer a comfortable, welcoming space in which you can be yourself. Together, we can identify coping strategies or perhaps delve more deeply into root causes.

By taking a holistic view of your needs, I can help you to become more aware of the physical, psychological and emotional impact of your experiences. We can work out what you need in order to feel less stressed/anxious, more confident, and more connected to yourself and others.

Experience

- Children's Counsellor with Place2Be at a primary school (ages 5-11) for 3 years.

- Counselling adults at an independent, local community charity. I also carry out initial consultations which is part of the client assessment process at the charity.

- Specialist bereavement training and experience of volunteering on the helpline of a national bereavement charity.

- 12+ years' experience of using complementary therapies to support adults (including in all stages of pregnancy, clients living with cancer, end of life care).  I also facilitated baby massage classes for new parents and babies.

- Former secondary teacher (11-18) for over 10 years.
